Another Stratford Trip!

It's been awhile since I've posted on The Whispering Path Blog.  Both Gaylle and I have been very busy with other projects (tarot and otherwise).  I have enjoyed my hiatus, however I am ready to get back to my tarot routine.  Before I can do that though, I have another trip to Stratford, Ontario booked.  This time I, along with my 'Stratford Trip buddy', will be seeing The Merchant of Venice and The Three Musketeers  both playing at the Festival Theatre.  We have booked ourselves into a beautiful B&B and we are looking forward to drinking wine on the balcony and 'taking in' the beauty of Stratford, ON.

Who will win American Idol????

Wow! I just finished watching American Idol and I am so amazed at the wonderful talent there to judge. How can we possibly pick from one of these two very talented performers?

Personally, I am a Phillip Phillips fan. I could listen to this guy sing all night long.

Regardless of who wins the American Idol 'crown' both of them will do well in the years to come.

Forgive & Forget - This Means You

It's an old expression, that. Forgive and forget. But how many of us can actually do it?

Here are some thoughts that might help you take that step...
1. Chronic anger is linked to decreased lung function, heart disease, stroke and other ailments
2. The bitterness that comes from long-term anger can contribute to depression
3. Forgiveness will decrease your anxiety, lower your blood pressure - benefits which increase actually, as we get older.

 I guess the big questions is who does it serve? If you're holding anger against someone for a past wrong, then you need to understand that THEY are still controlling YOU. And that's a position you want to remove yourself from.

If your ex cheated on you and moved out with the neighbour next door, would you still allow him or her the remotes to your tv so that you had to watch whatever they decided on the other side of the fence? Absolutely not. So it works the same with emotions. Forgive all the 'thems' out there. Do whatever it takes to allow that.

Maybe you just have to say to yourself "ok, they're stupid so I have to forgive them because they REALLY had a brain-fart" or "ok, I forgive them and they don't know it, but I do. And I'm the bigger person because I DID forgive them". Then move on. Seriously... who wants to continue to rehash old stuff.

That means you don't get to talk about the old hurt anymore, you don't get to even think about it. When it pops into your mind like a pink elephant, remind yourself "It's ok... I forgave her for that already. I wonder what I should wear tomorrow".

 Give yourself a hug every time you do this :)

Who do You Want to Win Idol

I had to laugh tonight.  Normally I'm quite busy on the phone with Tarot readings but not tonight.  My assertion, with completely zero statistics to support it, is that clients were watching Idol tonight LOL.  Where do I get this idea from?  10:00 pm.... Idol is over, and bam! tons of people come on line LOL.  Like clockwork... every Wednesday LOL.

I think we were all having a fine time getting our music fix on tonight.  In my household, we missed the first few minutes so even my husband is insisting that at 11:00 pm when the west feed comes on satellite, we have to see Holly sing her first song.

Ah, the sound of music. The endorphins are flowing.

If you have the opportunity in your community, consider joining a choir or chorus.  Some are very competitive and require auditions, and some don't really sweat it too much if you can't carry a tune in a bucket.  And usually the costs for this kind of 'sport' are very minimal - especially compared to many other activities.

The pluses are enormous.  New-found friends to gossip with on the risers, choreo to learn maybe (good for the body), memorization of songs (all good for the brain) and the sheer joy of singing with a large group.  I guarantee, no matter how tired you are going out to sing on choir night, you'll finish the practice thoroughly enervated, with an ear-worm that carries you home and into the next day.

Studies have shown that singing releases endorphins and seratonin into your body.  Endorphins are super pain-killers (about three times stronger than you could take over the counter) and seratonins make you feel good - sort of like chocolate without the calories LOL.

Get out there and sing people!   You'll love it!

New, new, new.... Our Latest Spinoff

Hello friends,

We're very excited to announce a new spin-off to the Whispering Path - a little bit of different direction but with the same wonderful intent of taking care of the whole person - body and soul.   I'll drop off more information in this blog as time allows, but suffice it to say that Gaylle is VERY excited about this new direction.

Appropriately, it's called Heart, Soul & Health (with the subtext.... BELIEVE).

Asking Tarot Cards WHEN!

Here are some obvious cards that can tell you something about timing - especially when considered within the context of where they're placed around other cards in the layout.

Eight of Wands - can indicate speed - so right side up, sooner than later and reversed, not so much
The Sun - besides the usual meaning can indicate summer, or daytime instead of night and reversed, the opposite
Five of Pentacles - can indicate winter, and reversed, after winter
Knights - have a look at the horse... is it moving?  stagnent?  racing?  to the issue or away?
Three of Cups - can indicate harvest time - fall
Ten of Wands -can signal a long way off

THIS WILL Be A Great Night!

Not only are we coming up to a full moon early tomorrow morning, so it alone will be spectacular, the solar storms on the sun are at a peak (last time they were this active was 5 years ago).  So... while this may interfere with your electronic gadgets a little, don't be dismayed because.... the Aurora Borealis will be putting on a display that you'll want to catch if you're in the Northern Hemisphere.   Where I am, way north in Canada, it means a fun night of sky watching - and thank goodness spring-like temperatures have blossomed lately :)

Aries:  Romance, love and a feeling of completion or a feeling of 'being home' can be yours.  Don't hesitate.  Seize the opportunities that are there for you and make your dreams come true.  

Taurus:   Luck will follow you wherever you go this week.  If you were thinking of starting a new project, job or something completely different realize that the time is right to do so.  Listen to your heart and start out on your new adventure.

Gemini:  You have it in you this week to start something new.  Don't worry about conventional methods.  Think outside the box.  You have the creativity in you to be different than all the rest.

Cancer:   Any major purchases should be put on hold this week.  Now is the time to keep your money close to you and assess and then re-assess where the money should be allocated.

Aries:   It you think you have a great idea then act on it.  Triumphant success is the energy in the air for you this week but you must ACT on it and make it happen. 
 

Taurus:  This week you will find that plans you have put into action are moving at a faster pace than you had anticipated.  Calm down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the ride.  You have it all under control and you are ready to face any challenges ahead.

Gemini:  This week you must remember that you and only you are in control of your future.  If you don't like what is happening then change it.  Is your bank peeving you off?  Change it.  Are you unhappy with your job?  Take the necessary steps to change it.  You only live once.  Make it count!

Preparing for Your Tarot Reading

Tarot readings are great to help clarify a situation and give guidance regarding what path to take. To make the most out of your reading it is best to be prepared.   Schedule your tarot reading when you are in a calm state of mind and have your questions ready for your tarot reader.  It is best to avoid questions that can be answered with a YES or NO as these are limiting.  Deeper insight into the situation is far more beneficial than the quickie answer.  Avoiding time related questions is also advised as they, too, are limiting.  It's better to find out what energy might be blocking or restricting the situation from happening.  Be positive.  Be confident.  Know that the cards will help guide you.

Tarot Readings by Phone

Ask any Tarot reader about his or her favourite kind of reading, and you'll probably NOT get a phone reading charged by the minute.  Why?  Because when the querent is feeling the pressure of the meter, they sometimes only want the basics.   Just like being in a taxi that seems like it's going nowhere, the rider (querent) gets frustrated.

Believe it or not, it's frustrating to a Tarot reader too.  We WANT to get into detail with you.  We desperately want to fill in the information around the energy, emotions, possible interpretations and motivations.  We want to point out where the limitations are, where there are blockages or specific challenges, and dangers to watch out for.  We want you to know where to look for change, and how to make that change.

When we can't get into that kind of depth with your reading, we feel we haven't done a good job for you.  So, here's the deal.   If you go out and get a live, sit-down reading from a Tarot reader you'll pay anywhere from $40 and up for a half hour.  So give your phone readers a bit of a break and come into a phone reading with correct expectations.  We'll ALWAYS do our very best, but with short, short times we just don't have the time available to give you the depth you probably want.

Tarot Horoscopes-January 16 to January 22

Tarot Reading for 2012

So, it's a Saturday night and being the tarot enthusiast I am I have decided to spend my night with my tarot cards. :)   I thought, since it is the New Year, that it would be interesting to do a reading on 2012. I would like to know what energies are 'hovering around' and get a general overall feeling for the year ahead.

7 of Pentacles-The 7 of Pentacles to me is about assessing where you are in life.  Taking the time to think about how far you have come, where you are now and where you want to be in the future.  Seeing this card in the reading speaks to me of change.  Look at all we have but at what price?   We all know that change is needed in the world but how do we go about it?  We assess. We plan.  We take the time to see what changes are needed.  How did we get here?  How can we change the mistakes that have been made? 

8 of Cups-The 8 of Cups' energy is about moving on yet leaving something behind that held emotional attachment.  Being an intuitive tarot reader my first thought when I saw this card was that we need to 'find a better way' to exist on this planet.  If we continue the way we are there won't be much left.  We must move on-leave behind us this way of life we are used to and have grown accustomed to.  Take with us our knowledge and find a better way.  The 7 of Pentacles' energy for assessing will be a success. Change is on the way. 

6 of Wands-The 6 of Wands speaks to us of pride, accomplishments, victory, valour and success.  What a wonderful card for year 2012.  Our hard work with the energy of the 7 of Pentacles and the 8 of Cups will pay off.  What will we accomplish this year?  How exciting.

The Sun-The Sun, being a major arcana card, is a big deal.  :)  It brings to us the energy of success, partnership, warmth, energy, growth, optimism and a new outlook.  Wow.  In year 2012 it sounds like we are going to make some real progress.  A new outlook and optimism.

A Different View of the Tarot Court Cards

Each of us while learning the Tarot Court Cards (they're the Page, Knight, Queen & Kings of the deck) starts with a basic viewpoint.  That may be to use them simply as a person, where sometimes sex and age comes into play.  Sometimes they are used for movement or time, as in the motion of the Knights, and sometimes to herald messages, as the Pages do.

I'd like to offer another way to use them especially within the context of an issue that doesn't need any of the above.  Use the Page through King cards as an indication of where the issue 'is'.   For instance, if the question is about a legal issue and if it's near resolving, a Page would indicate that it was near the beginning or start of the issue still while a Knight would indicate that the case was still gathering information, the Queen might indicate that it was all coming together, and a King would indicate that it was very close to completion.

In another example, perhaps on a question of whether one was going to be buying a house soon, a Page would indicate that one was still in the early stages of that process, while a King might indicate that the search phase was close to completion if not already complete.

We also feel strongly that Aces and Pages would reinforce each other when using the Court Cards in this way.

Here is your tarot horoscope for the week starting- Monday, January 2 to Sunday, January 8

Aries:    It's time to stop hiding your true self from the world.  This year is your year to shine.  Make this first week of the year a time to focus on your new beginning.  

Taurus:  You have accomplishments that are worth being proud of so don't hide them.   Enjoy this week of victory and success and the pride of sharing these successes with others.

Gemini:   Everyone needs time to themselves at some point and this week is that week for you.  Time for introspection is important before you tackle the year ahead.

Cancer:  Take time this week to see where you are financially.  Hold off on any big purchases until the holidays bills are taken care of.

Leo:  Like Cancer, Leo's week is all about finances.  Start this year off right financially by taking the time to assess where you are and set goals for the year ahead.
