The Wheel of Fortune-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

Anyone who has been following our blog for the last month will have noticed that I am going through the major arcana of the Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck that was developed by Heidi Darras.   The images she has produced digitally are magnificent.  I recommend anyone who is interested in a new deck to do further research on this deck as it is definitely number one in my eyes.  You can see more of Heidi Darras' work at http://azurylipfe.deviantart.com/   Azurylipfe is her Deviant Art name and I'm sure you will find her artwork is excellent.  Also, for any Canadians out there, I bought my Mystic Dreamer Tarot deck online at Chapters.  The  deck come with a book by Barbara Moore and it does give insight into the deck for beginners.

On we go with the tenth card in the major arcana- Wheel of Fortune.

Luck
Destiny/Fate
Prosperity in the Future
Karma
'What goes around, come around'
Chance
Forward Movement
Events Beyond our Control

When the Wheel of Fortune shows up in a reading I usually feel it is a good sign.  I like to think of it as a sign to 'relax-it will all work out OK'.   Sometimes there is nothing one can do about a situation but wait and see.  The Wheel of Fortune is reminding you that you can not control everything.  So if something you wanted or wanted to happen didn't turn out the way you wished it to The Wheel of Fortune is there for you.  The Wheel of Fortune teaches you that if one thing fails to live up to your expectations not to worry because there are many fantastic moments still out there for you to capture.  The main thing for you to remember is to move on.  The Wheel of Fortune is about movement-moving on-change and destiny.

Will the Wheel of Fortune show up in your tarot reading?

The Hermit-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

The ninth card in the major arcana is The Hermit

Solitude
Introspection
Guidance
Enlightenment
Seeking knowledge
Detachment

There are many times when The Hermit shows up in a reading that I feel it is signifying a time of introspection for the querent.  I feel The Hermit is trying to say that time is needed to look for guidance.  Most of the  time this guidance  can come from within.  The Hermit is letting you know that you have the knowledge.  Time alone is needed for you to look deep into your soul and find the answers that are waiting for you to find.  The Hermit is reminding you to detach yourself from the situation.  Sometimes by doing this you can see the issue as it really is and not clouded with emotion.

Is The Hermit in your future?

Strength-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

The eighth card in the major arcana is Strength.

Strength
Balance
Bravery
Grounded
Compassion

The Strength tarot card speaks to me of a balance one has within themselves, between their conscious and sub-conscious or between the wants and needs of their heart and head.  The tarot card Strength sometimes means exactly what is says.  Strength.  It can mean that now is the time for you to realize you DO have strength and now is the time to draw on that strength to make things happen.   You feel grounded and filled with compassion as you strike forward full of strength, power and bravery.

Is Strength in your life right now?  Email Wendy or Gaylle today for your personal tarot reading.

The Chariot-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

Continuing on through the major arcana we come to The Chariot.

Power
Direction
Positive Movement
Use of Intuition
Breakthrough
Control

The Chariot from the Mystic Dreamer tarot deck makes me feel of a situation that needs control.  I feel there are powerful  positive energies at work here and control is needed to rein them in a bit.  Use of intuition is needed to keep the energies in balance and on the same track.  I sometimes feel there has been some kind of breakthrough in the person's life.  So much so that they seem to be bursting through some barrier full of 'vim and vigor'.  The power can sometimes feel unmanageable but use of your intuition will bring balance and control to this wonderful energy.

Is the energy of The Chariot in your future?

A Mixture of Tarot and Runes

Lately, I have been having fun mixing up the readings with both tarot cards and runes.  I feel that the energy from both sources help me as a reader to dig deeper into the core or essence of the question or issue.  I find the querent is happy with the mixture as it adds a little extra zing to the session.

The tarot deck I use for reading is the Mystic Dreamer tarot deck.  As I have mentioned before in past posts, this deck sparks my intuition.  The runes I use in a reading is an amethyst tumbled stone set that I received one Christmas from my Mom and Dad.  :)

What a wonderful combination for a personal tarot and rune reading.  The Mystic Dreamer tarot deck and an amethyst rune set.

The Hierophant-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

OK, now I'm being repetitious.  What a beautiful day it is today!  Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians.  I can smell your turkeys cooking from here.  I hope you are enjoying the day with friends and family.  Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all the wonderful people in your life.  Be happy.  Take the time to cement relationships and to make positive memories.  Live is short.  Go out there and embrace it.  :)

Working my way through the major arcana we now come to the card I have the most issues with.

The Hierophant

Institutions or the institution of...
Being Judged
Education
Religion
Knowledge

These, of course, are my interpretations and as I said I have never felt comfortable with The Hierophant.  But let's look at this more closely.   If The Hierophant sparks my intuition as an institution that can mean;

  • the institution of marriage
  • a bank
  • a church
  • college or university
  • knowledge given in a structured manner
Sometimes a feel that The Hierophant is judging me;

  • at work
  • my family
  • my friends
I see knowledge available to you through standard 'intitutions' like college and universities' as well as a mentor or the wisdom you can gain from an elder.

I love that the image Heidi Darras has created for The Hierophant doesn't strictly set your mind on religion but  gives a wider range of emotions. The Hierophant from The Mystic Dreamer tarot deck aids my intuition much better than the standard Rider-Waite deck.

The Emperor-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

Wow!   I can't believe that wonderful weather we have been having here in Parry Sound.  I could not get myself to come inside today.  I sat out on the veranda most of the day smelling turkey and enjoying my new Path of the Soul Destiny Cards.  What a beautiful deck of intuitive fractal energy art.  After an interesting visit with that deck I again took out my Mystic Dreamer tarot deck.  For those of you new to The Whispering Path Tarot Blog, the Mystic Dreamer tarot deck is the deck I, Wendy, use for all my tarot readings.  Read earlier posts regarding my 'love' for this tarot deck. Thumbs up to Heidi Darras for her extraordinary art work.  :)

The Emperor

Personal Power
Positive Force
Fatherhood
King of Kings
Ruler

To me The Emperor signifies a time to shine.  YOU have the power to make things happen.  YOU are the one to rule your kingdom.  The time to rule is now.  Others are counting on you at this time and you will not disappoint them.  Enjoy the feeling you have of control over your life.  Enjoy knowing you and only you can make the important decisions that need to be made.  Scary as it may seem, it will all turn out OK.   Be positive.  Be aggressive.  Rule your kingdom.  :)

The Empress-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

I'm on a roll now.  The previous posts have all been regarding the major arcana.  I have already finished with The Fool, The Magician and The High Priestess.  Today we are dealing with The Empress.   Again, it's a nice day and I am sitting in the sun on my veranda while the turkey is cooking.  I'm looking forward to time with family to celebrate our Canadian Thanksgiving.  :)

The Empress

Love
Abundance
Family
Fertility
Motherhood
Guidance
Structure

I feel that The Empress is all the Queens in the court cards mixed together.  The Empress is the ruler of all Queens.  This Empress can do it all.  She is Mother Earth, Mother Nature--the ultimate of Motherhood.  The Empress is about love and family.  She is always there to guide you down whatever path it is you wish to explore.  She is about structure but in a more loving, guiding and nurturing way.  I feel that when she shows up in a reading it gives the reading/issue a safe, loving, nurturing feeling with all the love and guidance that is require at the time.  :)

Please email Wendy or Gaylle if you would like a personal tarot or rune reading.

The High Priestess-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

As posted earlier, while sitting on my veranda is did some reflection on The High Priestess.

The High Priestess

Hidden knowledge within yourself
Divination
Intuition
Reflection

The High Priestess is telling you that you know the answer to your problem or issue.  She says to you that you have hidden knowledge deep inside you.  Listen to your intuition.  Unveil the secrets inside you so you may find the guidance you are looking for.  The High Priestess reminds you that a balance is needed between;

your heart/your head
right/wrong
needs/wants

Take her advice when she shares it. Find a way to dig deep into your soul for the answers you are looking for.

The Magician-Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

As I said before in the last post, I was sitting on my veranda on a beautiful fall day and went through the major arcana one by one.

The Magician

The time to act is now
You have the ability to succeed
Create magic
Make your dreams a reality

The Magician is letting you know you have the power.  You have all the tools you need to succeed.  Bring all your hopes and dreams down to earth and make them a reality.  The time is NOW.  Act now!  Make the magic happen.  :)

My Tarot Card Reading for Guidance

I have been feeling a bit 'blue' lately.  I feel my 'get up and go had got up and went'.    I felt the need of some guidance from my trusted Mystic Dreamer Tarot deck.  I decided to draw one card to instruct me on What I Need to Know about my situation.

The card was the 5 of Cups.

The minute a saw the card it all made sense to me.  I have been grieving over the loss of summer.  I am not a fan of winter and I'm not looking forward to another winter season of coats, boots, and mitts.  There are some wonderful aspects of winter that I choose to ignore.  This card is trying to remind me to 'take my blinders off' and enjoy what mother earth has to offer.  This card is also reminding me not to get so concerned about winter coming that I lose out on the beautiful autumn approaching

Tarot readings are a great way to find guidance when you feel lost and also help clarify a situation that seems 'fuzzy' to you.

Tarot Reading-7 of Wands

For me,  the 7 of Wands is one of the tarot cards that doesn't seem to come up in a reading as much as the  other tarot cards  (now that I have said that it will probably come up more and more).  I can honestly say that when I did my 'card of the day' today I was surprised to see the 7 of Wands.  My intuition is asking me this:
  • I am being paranoid about something?
  • Why do a feel like I have to defend myself?
  • I am sticking up for what a believe in?
It's almost like I am showing everyone what I have done or accomplished and I am daring them to tell me it's not right or I should have done it this way or that way.  Hummmm.  Why am I feeling so defensive? Am I afraid you won't like my post!  :)

Here is the standard meaning for the 7 of Wands using the Rider-Waite deck.
  • defiance
  • conviction
  • taking a stand
  • defense
  • aggression
  • communication
I find that the Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck is similar in many ways to the Rider-Waite but the images on the Mystic Dreamer deck spark my intuition better than the Rider-Waite deck.

If you would like a personal tarot reading with the Mystic Dreamer Tarot deck or  the Rider-Waite deck email Wendy or Gaylle today.

3 of Swords-The Mystic Dreamer Tarot Deck

The 3 of Swords is an ominous looking card.  Regardless of the position, the first reaction I usually get when this card comes up is pain, sorrow and betrayal.

Understanding the 3 of Swords

The heart is a symbol of affection, love and joy.  It can also represent conscience, truth and courage.
Clouds are a symbol of 'clouded' vision or confusion.  Clouds could also indicate a revelation or epiphany.  That sudden moment when all becomes clear.  Notice the clouds clearing on the 3 of swords.

Taking these symbols into consideration, if the 3 of swords shows up in your reading it could be asking you:

What truths are you hiding from?
In this situation, am I being honest with the people I am close to?
Am I being honest with myself?
Can I learn any lessons from the pain I am feeling right now?
How do I see the problem clearly?
What is the heart of the problem?

The 3 of swords can indicate a time of:
  • loss
  • separation
  • sorrow
  • loss of balance
  • disharmony
  • disruption
  • heartbreak
  • betrayal

The 3 of Swords is that stabbing jolt of pain and the achy feeling after in your heart when your world has been turned upside down.  :(

The 3 of Swords reversed

When the 3 of Swords reversed shows up in a tarot reading you could be blocking
  • pain
  • sorrow
  • loss
  • confusion
When you block, resist or ignore these energies you will not be able to deal with the problem, heal and move on.
  • don't be afraid to say you are sorry
  • let the pain in--deal with it and move on
  • learn to accept the situation
  • allow yourself the time to grieve
Once you can release the hold of the reversed 3 of Swords you can then move on and open your heart again to a new beginning and new experiences.

Sometimes when the 3 of Swords comes up reversed in a reading my intuition tells me that the energy of the 3 of Swords is waning and that 'tomorrow will be a better day'.

Tarot Exercise

I found this fun tarot exercise on Tarot Dame's website today and had to share it with you.

Tarot Exercise: Your Tarot Initials
Shuffle your deck, asking for cards that will describe you. Then, starting with the top of the deck, count cards until you get to your first initial (mine was K, so it was the 11th card). Remove that card. Then continue counting further into the deck until you get to your middle initial (if you have one), removing that card. Then do the same for the initial of your last name, removing that card.

Turn over the cards, and they will share facets of yourself. Are they cards that you expected? Or do they surprise you? If you turn over a card that makes you think, “That is SO not me”, think again.  Dig a little deeper. What can you find within yourself that houses the essence of this card? You should be able to find something.  ...Still can't find anything? Grasping at straws?  Then look for something, anything, anywhere in the card, that rings true for you. Maybe there's a frog in the background, and you love frogs.

Note
: My initials conveniently fall in alphabetical order, and I don't have a middle name. Should your middle or last name appear in the alphabet earlier than your first name, still do your first name first. Then start again, with the next card in the deck, back at A until you get to your next initial. For example, if your name is Mandy Dandy, you would count from the top until you got to M (the 13th card), then continue with the next card, back at A, until you got to D (the 4th card down).

I did the exercise myself and this is what came up.

I am like a child and I find pleasure in the little things in life.

I love the water and I enjoy time to myself.

I sometimes feel that the things I dream about are just beyond my reach.

Try this exercise yourself!   Please visit Tarot Dame's website as she has other fun tarot exercises to try.  :)

Intuitive Tarot Reading

I started out many years ago with my 1st tarot deck, the Aquarian Tarot deck. In retrospect, it was not a good deck for a beginner and I soon became frustrated and put the deck away.  Years later the deck resurfaced and so did my interest in tarot.  I bought a new deck, the Rider-Waite, and the rest snowballed to this point.  The Rider-Waite deck is great for beginners and I encourage anyone with an interest in tarot to start with it or one similar.  There are many books, blogs and websites devoted to teaching beginners the meaning of the 78 cards and many are using the Rider-Waite as a reference.  Learning the basic meaning of each card is paramount and once you have that mastered the fun is just beginning.

What is great about intuitive tarot reading is the various meanings that can 'pop' out of nowhere and actually make sense to the querent.  I love that moment when I 'blurt' something out that I've never even thought about before as a meaning for a particular card and the person I'm reading for is nodding like nothing has ever made so much sense.

You might ask;

How does intuitive tarot reading work?
Does that mean everything I've been taught is useless?

My journey into intuitive tarot reading started when I purchased the Mystic Dreamer tarot deck.  As I  have posted before, this deck sparks my intuition.  Reading with the Mystic Dreamer deck has liberated me from the standard tarot card meanings and I have never enjoyed reading the tarot as much.   I believe if you find a deck you feel passionate about then your intuition will ignite.

Should you throw away all your notes on the card meanings?  No!  Everything needs a baseline, a foundation to work with.  Intuitive readings build on the foundation of standard card meanings and makes each reading unique in its own way.

Until next time,

Wendy  :)
